I read to my child an evening story in which fairy tale characters had escaped from their books. They did not adapt to the human world and decided to go back to their books.
I was left wondering what Alice in Wonderland would have thought about the human world. After all, she has witnessed some kind of crazy thins despite her young age. What would Alice wonder the most?
Is everyone having their own rabbit hole in their pocket – in their phones?
Inspired by this reflection, I painted Alice, who had grown up as a young woman, taking a selfie through the mirror. The viewer is a mirror that creates its own view of the character posing in its light blue skirt.
